Peacock — Original Oil Butterfly Painting on 12" Round Canvas

Some days, two minutes with your coffee and one small flash of orange can do more than you’d expect.

Peacock is a 12" original oil painting on round canvas — a vivid orange peacock butterfly, purple delphiniums, and one of those tiny garden moments you only catch when you stop rushing for two seconds.

It’s part of my Tiny Miracles collection — small original paintings for the little moments that make you look up before the kettle clicks and the next self-appointed urgency starts waving at you.

I painted this from my own photos taken in my Mum’s garden in June, after spending the better part of an hour chasing butterflies around with my camera like a woman with a very niche mission. The peacock butterfly is one of my absolute favorites — all that orange and purple, the graceful shape, and the way it goes about its business in full regalia. I completely understand the name.

The fuzzy body was one of the trickiest parts to paint, especially since I’m still experimenting with painting insects. Not exactly the easiest subject when the body is basically a tiny velvet jumper with legs.

The purple delphiniums are what made the whole thing click. Against all that purple, the orange feels bold without getting shouty.

Because it’s small and round, Peacock doesn’t need a huge wall, a redecorating plan, or a Saturday lost to measuring things. It just needs a spot where you’ll actually see it — with your coffee, between emails, before the day starts pulling at your sleeve again.

It’s a small original painting, but it has presence. Not loud presence. More like: “Oh, there you are. That helped.”

The sort of piece you buy because you already know where you’d pause to look at it.
